Why were Roman legions so effective?
The training that soldiers had to do was very tough and thorough and included marching 20 miles a day wearing full armour. This meant that the Roman armies were very fit and organised. Training included marching in formation and learning specific tactics and manoeuvres for battle.

You should be able to shred through the Hoplites and start doing some real damage on Phalanx. Be sure to hit the Hoplites behind their shields to do extra damage to them. Once Phalanx has no Hoplites protecting him, he is vulnerable. Run up and attack to finish the job and defeat your first real demon.
